7-Day Rwanda Chimpanzee, Gorillas, and Golden Monkey Trekking

After your breakfast, you will start your Kigali City Tour with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Later, you will be transferred to Nyungwe National Park, the home of chimpanzees. The journey southwest passes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscape. In the afternoon, enjoy a canopy walk adventure in Nyungwe National Park. Visit and enjoy the property amenities. Drive to the hotel and relax for the whole evening.

Overnight stay at Ken Barham guest house

On this day, you will enjoy an early breakfast at your lodge before embarking on a thrilling hike in search of chimpanzee communities. The Rwandan chimpanzee population is thought to consist of approximately 400-500 individuals, confined to the Nyungwe National Park, including a small community in the Cyamudongo Forest. Prepare to hear these excitable primates before you see them, as their pant-hoots travel through the deep forest. During your hike, you may also spot migratory bird life including the Ross’ turaco, grey-cheeked hornbill, red-breasted sparrow, hawk, and regal sunbird. Later proceed with tea plantation experiences around the park. After these experiences, check out and transfer to the shore of Lake Kivu.

Dinner & Overnight stay at Rwiza Cultural Village(BB)

After breakfast, you will start your morning boat cruise exploring different islands located on the lake. On this day, you will drive to Volcanoes National Park. On your way have a stopover and enjoy the Rwanda coffee experiences at Kopakiki Cooperative. On arrival, spend your time at leisure enjoying property amenities at the lodge.

Overnight at La Locanda (BB)

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the home of mountain Gorillas, the Volcano National Park headquarters – Kinigi to meet your guides for the day. After completing our park formalities, we are embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime experience of tracking mountain gorillas. Once you spot them you are allowed to spend an hour watching them do their daily activities. Return to your hotel for lunch or visit any other restaurant of your choice in Musanze town for lunch. Have the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Full relaxation with lodge amenities.

Overnight at La Locanda (BB)

On this special day, you will have the rare opportunity to observe the famous golden monkeys. You will depart for golden monkeys trekking to observe the famous Rwandan monkeys in the Volcanoes National Park. Spend an hour with them, and be back at the base in time for lunch. Upon arrival at the lodge for lunch, enjoy lunch at the hotel or in a local restaurant in Musanze city with an afternoon cultural experience at the Gorilla Guardians’ former Iby’iwacu Cultural Village. You'll later have a transfer back to Kigali for your nightlife experience.
